AI Project Lab Level 2

Course Overview

AI Project Lab Level 2 is about making better products. Students move from “can I make it work?” to “can I make it great?” — building products with professional design, smooth animations, real-world data, and polished user experiences. Each season ends with a product demo and evaluation that shows visible growth from Level 1.

• Iterate and Improve — Learn to evaluate your own product and make it better
• Grow Your Portfolio — Add more sophisticated projects to your collection

Course Structure

Each 10-week season follows a two-phase project cycle:

Phase 1: Mini Project (Weeks 1-4)

A design-focused challenge to level up your craft:

• Build responsive layouts that work everywhere
• Add professional animations and transitions
• Ship a polished mini product

Phase 2: Main Project (Weeks 5-10)

A data-driven product with real functionality:

• Design and plan a more ambitious product
• Integrate external APIs and live data
• Focus on user experience and product quality
• Demo Day — Present and compare with your previous work

Each season, students produce:

• A deployed product with responsive design and real data
• Code repository on GitHub
• Product evaluation with comparison to previous work
• Progress report for parents

• VS Code with extensions
• Claude Code (AI development partner)
• Git & GitHub
• HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• GSAP animation library
• REST APIs
• Vercel (deployment)

Laptop Requirements

• RAM: 16GB minimum
• Processor: Intel 12th Gen or newer, AMD Ryzen 5000 or newer, Apple M1 or newer
• Storage: 256GB SSD minimum (512GB recommended)
• Display: 1080p, 13” or larger
• OS: Windows 10/11, macOS 11+, or Linux

Chromebooks and tablets are not supported. Laptops older than 2020 are not recommended.

Prerequisites

• Age: Grades 5-9 (ages 10-15)
• Required: AI Project Lab Level 1
• Skills: Comfortable with HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript
