Course Overview

Understand the problem first. Then build toward more advanced mathematics — systematically.

CT Singapore Math is an Ontario-aligned advanced mathematics program for Grades 6-8. It is built on the structured progression of Dimensions Math 6-8, locally adapted and taught by Ontario Certified Teachers to align with Ontario learning, school performance, and high-school readiness.

We do teach more challenging mathematics — and, more importantly, we teach it systematically.

This is a complement to school mathematics, not a replacement.

The Problem We Solve

Many students can calculate. What they cannot always do is see what a question is actually asking.

Parents often describe the same pattern:

  • The student can solve familiar question types, but a reworded version stops them
  • They can apply a formula without knowing why it works
  • Word problems and multi-step questions are where marks are lost
  • Elementary results were fine, but high school starts to feel hard

Most lost marks happen before the calculation.

Our Approach

Rather than teaching students how to do one more question type, we teach a repeatable process:

Read the problem → Identify the question → Find the mathematical core → Establish relationships → Choose a method → Verify and explain

Systematic Advancement

More challenging mathematics, structured in a deliberate progression — not random acceleration.

Model Method & Visual Thinking

Making abstract relationships concrete, visible and understandable.

Read First, Solve Second

Students learn to judge what a problem is asking, rather than memorising question patterns.

Ontario-Localised, OCT-Taught

Connected to the current curriculum, school performance and high-school preparation.

From STEM Back to Mathematics

Years of teaching robotics and engineering showed us exactly which mathematical abilities genuinely affect a student’s design, measurement, data analysis, programming and problem solving.

This remains a mathematics course. STEM examples are used for understanding, verification and transfer — not as activities in place of mathematics.

Mathematics tells students the ideal relationship; engineering helps them understand how to apply, verify and correct it.

Grade Pathways

Grade 6, 7 and 8 are taught as separate classes, because the mathematical transition at each stage is genuinely different.

Grade 6 — Strong Foundations + Extension

For both typical and advancing Grade 6 students. Consolidates core relationships and adds application and challenge through differentiated practice.

Grade 7 — Transition to Algebraic Thinking

Moves from ratio, integers and equation basics into deeper algebra, linear relationships, graphing and multi-step problems.

Grade 8 — Advanced Secondary Readiness

Systematically enters more complex algebra, equations, functions, graphing and coordinate geometry. Some topics overlap with Ontario high-school mathematics.

Textbook levels are not equivalent to an Ontario formal grade level or credit.

Foundation First, Then Depth and Reach

We secure the foundation before we build on it. Once the core relationships are solid, the same topic is pushed further — deeper understanding, harder application, and study ahead of the school timeline where a student is ready for it.

That order matters. Acceleration without a secure foundation produces students who can follow a procedure but stall the moment a question is worded differently.

Your Teachers

CT Singapore Math is taught by Ontario Certified Teachers (OCT) — practising classroom teachers with extensive mathematics and STEM backgrounds.

The teachers who adapt the curriculum to the Ontario context are the same ones who teach the class, which is what makes the alignment to school expectations, student diagnosis and high-school preparation real rather than theoretical.

Entrance Diagnostic → Core Learning → Differentiated Practice → Ongoing Observation → Parent Feedback

Every student begins with a diagnostic assessment so teaching starts from where the student actually is, not where the grade level assumes they are.

  • Note: CT Singapore Math uses Dimensions Math and Singapore Math methods as core resources. It is not a textbook-recitation class, and CT is not officially affiliated with Singapore’s Ministry of Education, the textbook publisher, or the trademark holder.
