VEX V5 Competition Program

Course Overview

The VEX V5 Competition Program prepares high school students for VEX Robotics Competition (VRC), the world’s largest robotics competition. Students build sophisticated robots using the VEX V5 platform and compete in regional, provincial, and world championship events.

Team Structure

Students work in teams of 3-5, taking on roles:

• Lead Builder / Mechanical Engineer
• Lead Programmer / Software Engineer
• Driver / Operator
• Strategist / Scout
• Notebook Lead / Documentation

Program Commitment

This is an intensive program requiring:

• Weekly 4-hour sessions
• Additional practice time before competitions
• Tournament attendance (weekends)
• Team collaboration outside class

Prerequisites

• Age: Grades 8-12 (ages 13-18)
• Recommended: VEX IQ experience or strong STEM background
• Commitment: Dedicated participation through competition season
